At the April 2009 fair there were over 40 stands and during the day over 300 people attended. Everyone made the most of the opportunity to browse, buy, sell and part-exchange equipment and to chat about all things photographic with other enthusiasts! Those trading included Peter Loy collectable camera specialists with a superb range of highly collectable cameras, including a Nikon S range finder and a Suzuki Press Van 120. Tony Faulkner from the Camera Trading Company in Lichfield was also there and reported a good day. He had a selection of Canon 10D’s, 20D’s 30D’s and even a couple of 1Ds for sale and a selection quality L lens. The highlight of his day was selling a Canon 70-200 f2.8 L lens for £625. Bargains spotted included two Courtney 1000w studio flash lights which sold for £20, a digital Canon 10d body, mint and boxed for £175 and a Nikon F4s mint and boxed for £175. Professional film cameras that would have been sold for over £1000 when new were changing hands around £100. An item of particular interest was the 12x10 plate camera, circa 1920 in mahogany and brass which was made in Peckham by Gandolfi a famous London manufacturer, priced at £450. It was sold early in the day by Mr Nicholls who specialises in vintage and classic cameras and has been trading for over 22 years. Many a good chat was enjoyed over a mug of tea and a full cooked breakfast in the Cheese and Grain Café. Some even succumbed to the maple syrup pancakes. Visitors also enjoyed the display of FWCC members photographs on show in the foyer. The next Camera Fair will be held on Sunday 11th April 2010 at the Cheese & Grain Hall, Frome 9.30am to 2.00pm (8.30 for Early Bird tickets).
